Masai Mara safari photographs

A gazelle, seconds from death, looks terrified as it pursued by a pair of cheetahs in one of a series of stunning nature photographs taken in the Masai Mara, Kenya, by photographer David Lloyd 
Two male lions fight in one of the portraits produced by Lloyd, who is presenting his work at a new exhibition in London next month 
A hungry bird of prey circles a herd of wildebeest, one of a number of incredible close-up photographs that will be on display at the Royal Opera Arcade Gallery in Pall Mall, London 
A leopard captured in in its full glory as it contemplates going on a hunt for prey in the Masai Mara. The image was captured by a Nikkon D3S and D800E 
A cheetah, tail up for balance, shows its playful and curious side as its bounds down the bonnet of safari Land Rover  
A giraffe sticks its tongue out to create another cheeky photo for Lloyd, who was last year won the Veolia Wildlife Photographer of the Year 
 
 Lions feast on this unfortunate hippo, one of a number of feasting scenes to be shown at the exhibition which is, at times, not for the faint-hearted

Wildebeest thunder past in their annual migration, which takes place in September and is one of the most spectacular experiences for any safari-goer
Wildlife as stunning as this leopard, with its piercing eyes, can't be found in Richmond Park, Surrey, which Lloyd lists as one of his favourite places in the world, along with African countries including Kenya and Botswana
They had earlier been engaged in battle, but these two normally brutal lions appear to be showing each other an unusual amount of affection, although they could just be trying rid each other of a swam of flies which has enveloped them
Lloyd, who describes himself as a fine art photographer, produces, as we have seen, incredible colour photography, but says he prefers black and white, shown here to stunning effect with this snap of two zebras
The end is nigh for this water buffalo as an alligator sinks its teeth into its neck as it crosses the river, in another example of Kenya's, at times, unforgiving landscape
Entitled 'Embracing the Wind', this amazing image of a roaring lion won the Windland Smith's Rice Awards Nature's Best 2012 gong, yet another award for the feted Lloyd
Does a living creature get any more cute than this? This little lion cub looks rather fearful as it rests a paw over a fallen tree
An African buffalo comes out looking like an ancient relic in a photo with unparalleled attention to detail
